Triops Newberryi Egg Capsule – Rare Gem from the Western USA!
Do you want a truly exclusive prehistoric shrimp in your breeding tank? The Triops Newberryi, discovered in the warm western United States, is a rather rare and very special tadpole shrimp. While many other species are solid in color, the Newberryi develops a breathtaking dark brown marbled 'tabby' pattern over a light brown shell after about three weeks. A beautiful, detailed eye-catcher!
Character & Growth
Despite originating from a warm environment, the Triops Newberryi grows somewhat calmer and more compact than, for example, the Australiensis. Including its long tail fork, it reaches an average size of 4 to 6 centimeters. It's an incredibly lively creature: you won't be bored for a moment watching it perform acrobatic tricks, swim through the tank, and happily dig in the bottom.
Environmental Requirements & Care
To maximize its life expectancy (approximately 50 to 70 days), the Triops Newberryi has specific requirements for its breeding environment:
- Temperature: Keep the water stable at approximately 27 °C (just under 30 °C). A suitable heat source or heat lamp is essential for this.
- Light: Direct light above the breeding tank helps the eggs to optimally awaken and hatch.
How does breeding work?
Fill a clean breeding tank with about 0.5 liters of still spring water (like Bar-le-Duc without carbonation) and add the breeding batch. Ensure a constant temperature of around 27 °C and direct a lamp onto it. Soon, the tiny larvae will awaken. After the first day, you can carefully start feeding small amounts of (finely ground) food.
Key advantages at a glance:
- Very Rare Species: One of the most exclusive Triops species for enthusiasts.
- Unique Tabby Pattern: Beautiful dark brown marbling on a light brown shell.
- Active & Playful Behavior: Tireless swimmer and digger that brings a lot of life to the tank.
- Compact Size: Grows 4 to 6 cm (including tail fork), ideal for smaller breeding tanks.
- Includes Manual: Clear Dutch instructions for successful breeding.
Product specifications:
- Species: Triops Newberryi (American Tadpole Shrimp)
- Content: Capsule with eggs mixed in breeding substrate
