Why is a gypsum nest perfect for Harvester Ants?
Harvester ants have specific requirements for their living environment. They need good moisture gradation: a humid area for brood care (eggs and larvae) and a bone-dry area for storing their winter supply of seeds.
The sleekly designed gypsum nest provides the perfect solution. Each nest is completely handmade and equipped with a unique central moisture reservoir. This naturally creates humid chambers around the core, while the outer chambers remain dry. The shallow inner chambers (4 mm) are perfect for optimal observation, while the deeper outer chambers (7 mm) will be immediately used by the harvester ants as grain silos.
Thanks to our years of experience, this set includes a beautiful full-color instruction booklet. This multilingual manual guides you through the start-up phase with a clear step-by-step plan, so you know exactly how to best care for the colony and successfully build up the hobby.
We developed this set as part of our ‘Master Series’ – a high-quality line of ant farms with maximum durability and functionality. Because each nest is handmade, the color may vary slightly.

Why the Gypsum Emperor is the ultimate setup:
We can well imagine that making a choice is difficult when seeing all the options. With this super-complete set, you simply choose the 'thickest start' available worldwide.
The showpiece of this setup is the Ant Farm Gypsum Emperor. This massive, robust gypsum nest is entirely handmade and features no less than 16 deep chambers. Thanks to the unique central moisture system, you can perfectly regulate the humidity from the core with the included 20 ml syringe.
The chambers around the moisture reservoir are shallow (8 mm) for perfect and unobstructed viewing of the queen and eggs. The outer chambers are extra deep (12 mm). This is crucial for a large colony of harvester ants, as they can store their winter supply of seeds and ant bread here on a gigantic scale, keeping them bone dry. The ant farm and the spacious arena are equipped with multiple connections (10 mm) on both sides, allowing you to endlessly expand this kingdom in the future.
Because our gypsum nests are cast and assembled by hand based on our years of breeding experience, each nest is unique, and the color scheme may vary slightly.
Specifications & Technical data:
- Gypsum nest size: 40 x 25 x 4 cm (Massive Emperor size with 16 chambers!)
- Chamber depth: Varying from 8 mm (observation) to 12 mm (seed storage)
- Arena size: 26 x 16 x 11 cm (Equipped with 4 connection possibilities of 10 mm)

Ant farm starter kit
The best foundation for starting to raise your own ant colony can be found in this starter kit!
The biggest challenge of the hobby lies in the beginning. How do you ensure your queen and a few workers grow into a healthy, large colony? The 'Ant Dock Station' in combination with the arena makes this a lot easier.
In addition to the great shelter and the robust character of the 'Ant Dock Station', you can now also provide your ants with the right temperature. At the end of the Dock, there is a slot where the 1-meter heat cable fits perfectly (available as an optional add-on). By positioning the heat cable correctly, you can provide the test tube containing your ant colony with the right temperature. Now your ants will stay nice and warm, even during the cold periods of the year! With the right temperature, your colony grows the fastest, which is exactly what you want!
The Dock where you place the test tube can be seen as the nest section, which is normally underground. Warm from the sun, sheltered by the earth, and ventilated for the ants. This is all incorporated into the Dock. The Arena is the section above ground. In this outdoor living area, which the ants can reach via the transport tube, the ants can collect their food (which you place there once a week) and take away their waste.
How cool is it to be able to watch the ants working together and moving through the tube from up close.
This starter kit is suitable for all types of ants. Don't have a colony yet? Then you can choose from different species above, including food, and add them to your order at great promotional prices. You can also order the heat cable and decorations for your arena above.

Give your ant farm the ultimate presentation with the Major Base Stand
Do you want an even better view of the development of your ant colony? The Major Base Stand is the ideal stand to display your ant farm stylishly, safely, and clearly. This multifunctional stand is custom-designed for two of our most popular nests: the Major plaster nest (Master Series) and the Asteroid 10x15 acrylic nest (Universe Collection).
Optimal view of your ant colony
By placing your nest on this sturdy stand, the chambers are tilted at a perfect viewing angle. This gives you and your visitors a fantastic, direct overview of the queen, the brood, and the active workers. You'll never have to lean over the table or cabinet again to admire the nest life up close.
Space-saving and rock-solid
In addition to a beautiful view, the Major Base Stand also has a practical advantage: it saves valuable space on your desk, dresser, or display. Because the ant nest is tilted more upright, it takes up significantly less surface area. Thanks to its stable fit, the nest also stands rock-solid, which helps prevent vibrations and ensures a safe living environment for your ants.
The benefits at a glance:
- Perfect fit: Seamlessly suitable for the Major (plaster) and Asteroid 10x15 (acrylic) ant farms.

Give your large ant farm the ultimate presentation with the Emperor Base Stand
Do you want to optimally enjoy your large, impressive ant colony? The Emperor Base Stand is the robust XL stand to display your ant farm stylishly, safely, and clearly. This stand has been custom-designed especially for the largest nests in our range: the Emperor plaster nest (Master Series) and the Jupiter 25x40 acrylic nest (Universe Collection).
Optimal view of your XL ant colony
By placing even the largest nests on this sturdy stand, the spacious chambers tilt at a perfect viewing angle. Thanks to its stable fit, the nest is also rock-solid, which helps prevent vibrations and ensures a safe living environment for your ants.
The advantages at a glance:
- Perfect fit: Seamlessly suitable for the General (plaster) and Saturn 14x21 (acrylic) ant farms.
- Ideal viewing angle: Provides a razor-sharp view of all chambers, the queen, and the brood.
