Ant Care & Nutrition – Everything for a Healthy and Active Colony

Non-Flying Fruit Flies – Essential proteins for your colony

Proteins are indispensable for the establishment and growth of an ant colony. While adult worker ants primarily use sugars for energy, the ant queen needs proteins to lay eggs, and larvae use these building blocks for growth. These **non-flying fruit flies** (20-50 pieces) form the perfect, bite-sized protein source for young and nascent ant colonies, and also make an excellent meal for small praying mantises, spiders, and poison dart frogs.

Easy to feed and store

Thanks to a natural mutation, these fruit flies cannot fly. This makes them very easy to offer to your colony with tweezers or directly from the test tube in the outworld, without having to worry about escapees.

Storage tip: Feed immediately or freeze

The flies are delivered in a convenient test tube and are intended to be fed immediately upon receipt. Do you want them to last longer? Then place the tube directly in the freezer! Frozen, the fruit flies will keep for several weeks. You can then thaw a few flies as needed, every day or few days, and offer them to your ants.

Tip for continuous breeding: This loose portion of fruit flies is intended as direct food. Since postal delivery can sometimes impact the vitality of the flies, we recommend ordering our special fruit fly breeding kit for a constant, fresh supply. This way, you can easily and affordably breed your own fresh flies at home!

Key benefits at a glance:

• Easy to handle: Cannot fly, so no escaping flies in the house.
• Essential nutrient source: Packed with proteins for rapid larval development.
• Convenient to store: Ideal for immediate freezing for later use.
• Bite-sized format: Perfectly adapted to the jaws of nascent ant colonies.

Suitable for feeding:

• Nascent and small ant colonies (such as Lasius, Formica, Tetramorium, Camponotus)
• Young praying mantises and small spiders
• Small amphibians and poison dart frogs

Product specifications:

• Quantity: Approx. 20 to 50 pieces

Flexible Transparent Hose (8/10 mm) – Reliable connection for your ant setup

Building and expanding an ant network requires a secure, leak-proof, and flexible connection. This flexible transparent connection hose is the ideal solution for connecting ant farms, expansion nests, test tubes, and outworlds.

Perfect dimensions for leak-proof connections

With an inner diameter of 8 mm and an outer diameter of 10 mm, this hose is designed to seamlessly connect to the most common connection ports in the ant hobby. The hose easily slides over 8 to 9 mm connectors, or clamps into openings of 9 to 10 mm for a firm and escape-proof fit.

Clear view and easy to cut to size

Because the hose is completely clear and transparent, you can perfectly monitor the traffic and food transfer of your worker ants between the nest and the outworld. Additionally, the hose is made of flexible material, making it very easy to cut to the exact desired length with scissors or a knife.

Ordering tip for the desired length: The price shown is per 50 cm (0.5 meter). For example, if you want a 2-meter hose in one continuous piece? Order this product 4 times. We will deliver the desired total length in one continuous piece where possible!

Key benefits at a glance:

• 100% Transparent: Provides a clear view of the ants during their movements.
• Flexible & Pliable: Easy to bend around corners without the hose kinking or pinching.
• Perfect Fit: Excellent for openings from 9 mm (snug fit) to 10 mm.

Ant's Kingdom Heating Cable (1 meter heated / 5 Watt) – Targeted & safe heat

For breeding and caring for ants, stick insects, praying mantises, and other reptiles or insects, a stable temperature is essential. The **Ant's Kingdom heating cable** offers the perfect solution as a local heat source for your ant farm, vivarium, or terrarium. By attaching the cable under or to the side of the enclosure, the environment is heated gradually, controlled, and with very low energy consumption (only 5 Watts).

Flexible, pliable, and ready to use

Unlike stiff cables, this heating cable does not require preheating to become pliable. Thanks to its high-quality silicone outer casing, the cable can be easily bent straight out of the packaging and laid in any desired pattern. This allows you to apply heat exactly where your ant colony or insects need it most.

Maximum safety & Water resistant (IP67)

Safety comes first. The heating cable is double insulated and has an **IP67 rating**, meaning it is dust-tight and excellently splash-proof. The cable has a total length of 1.5 meters: the first 50 cm serves as a connection cable to the molded plug, and the last meter is the actual heating element (clearly identifiable by a marking on the cable).

Advantages of the Ant's Kingdom Heating Cable:

Test Tube Connector Transparent – The new standard in connection material

For years, ant hobbyists relied on black rubber connectors to connect test tubes to connection hoses. While effective, these old connectors had two major drawbacks: they took up valuable space *inside* the breeding tube (with the risk of cracking if pressed too hard) AND they obscured the view of the ants. With the introduction of the **Ant-Blox Test Tube Connector Transparent**, that is definitely a thing of the past!

100% Visibility & Maximum Ease of Use

This innovative connector is completely transparent. This allows you to see exactly what is happening between the outside world and the breeding nest, even during the transport of food or workers. The connector **slides over the outside** of the test tube (16 mm diameter). This prevents tension on the plastic and preserves the entire internal volume of the test tube for your ant colony!

Suitable for Test Tube Size L (16 mm) & 10 mm Hose

The Ant-Blox connector is precisely dimensioned for the **Test Tube Size L (16 mm)**. At the front, you can effortlessly attach the classic 10 mm connection hose. This way, you can create a robust, secure, and leak-free connection to your arena or the outside world in just one second.

Ready for the future: Build your own ant farm!

If you look closely at the connector, you will see a special connection port with a rubber O-ring on top. This connector is not just an adapter, but the basis for the new **Tunnel System**. Just as you build with building blocks, you can effortlessly expand and connect your ant habitat to the entire modular Ant Farm line.

Key benefits at a glance:

• 100% Transparent: Optimal view of traffic between nest and arena, no more 'blind spots'.
• Slides over the tube: No pressure/tension in the test tube and no loss of nesting space.
• Prevents damage: No more cracked plastic test tubes due to over-tightening.
• Perfect fit: Connects seamlessly to Test Tube Size L (16 mm) and 10 mm hoses.
• Expansion Ready: Equipped with a top connection for the modular Ant-Blox tunnel system.

Fruit Cup for Ants & Insects – Tasty and safe energy source

Do you want to treat your ant colony, beetles, stick insects, or reptiles to a delicious and nutritious snack? These **Fruit Cups** have been one of the most appreciated treats among insect enthusiasts for years. The jelly is packed with natural sugars, carbohydrates, and essential vitamins that provide active workers with a significant boost of energy.

No drowning hazard & Clean to use

One of the biggest advantages of a Fruit Cup compared to liquid sugar water or honeydew is its firm, jelly-like structure. Ants can walk on the jelly and eat to their heart's content without getting stuck or drowning. This makes it the safest way to offer sugars, especially for young colonies or very small ant species. Furthermore, your outworld or arena will remain much cleaner, and the jelly dries out less quickly.

Available in 6 delicious flavors

Variety in diet keeps your colony curious and active! The Fruit Cups come in various fruity flavors. When ordering individually, you will receive a random mix of the flavors below:

• Strawberry
• Melon
• Banana
• Honey
• Orange
• Yogurt

Instructions for use:

Simply remove the plastic film from the top of the cup and place the Fruit Cup directly in the outworld or arena. For very small colonies, you can also easily cut a small piece from it with a knife or spatula and offer it in a feeding dish.

Key benefits at a glance:

• 100% Safe: No drowning hazard due to the firm jelly structure.
• Rich in energy: Packed with sugars, carbohydrates, and vitamin B-carotene.
• Clean & Hygienic: Doesn't mess and keeps the outworld tidy.
• Varied: Available in 6 different, delicious flavors.

Feeder Tower (5 ml) – Effortless and automatic liquid food dispensing

Providing liquid food such as sugar water or honeydew can be challenging in the outside world. Loose drops dry out quickly, and ants can easily drown in larger puddles. With the **Feeder Tower**, that problem is definitively solved! This clever drinking tower continuously dispenses small amounts of liquid as soon as the worker ants drink from it.

Works on the principle of clever gravity

The Feeder Tower consists of a transparent glass test tube of 5 ml that you simply place upside down into the sturdy, specially designed base. Once the reservoir is filled, the vacuum and gravity action ensures that just enough liquid remains in the collection tray. The ants can drink from it safely, while the rest of the supply in the tube remains fresh and clean.

The solution for a weekend trip or vacation

Thanks to its generous 5 ml capacity, the Feeder Tower provides a small to medium-sized colony with the necessary energy for days, or even weeks. This allows you to leave home for a few days with peace of mind, knowing your ants won't run out of sugars or hydration.

Key advantages at a glance:

• Automatic dispensing: Automatically refills the liquid based on gravity.
• 100% Safe: Specially designed drinking openings to prevent drowning.
• Prevents evaporation: The sealed 5 ml glass reservoir keeps the food fresh much longer.
• Easy to clean: The glass tube and base are very easy to rinse clean after use.
• Ideal for vacations: Provides sufficient capacity for extended periods without needing attention.

Sand Loam Combination (200 grams) – The ideal base for a sturdy ant nest

Ants are true master builders, but they need the right material to dig a safe nest. Ordinary sand quickly collapses when it dries. Our specially developed **Sand Loam Combination** contains exactly the right ratio of fine sand and loam (clay). This ensures that the excavated tunnels and chambers retain their shape and strength, just like in nature!

Beautiful natural look and fine texture

The substrate has a very fine texture and a beautiful warm red/yellow color scheme. This immediately gives the ant habitat or terrarium a natural and atmospheric look.

Important for use: Moisten for firmness

Because the sand-loam mix is very finely packed, it is essential to **lightly moisten** the substrate after filling the ant farm. The loam then binds with the sand. Let the mixture dry thoroughly until it forms a firm structure. Only then can you safely place or connect the ants!

Filling advice for an ant farm: Fill a sand ant farm with a maximum of 2/3 of this sand-loam combination. This leaves the ants enough free space to dig sand upwards, build up, and determine their own nest layout!

How much do you need?

• Town House: approx. 250 grams needed (order 2 bags of 200g for sufficient supply)
• Urban Villa: approx. 500 grams needed (order 3 bags of 200g for sufficient supply)

Calculate the volume of your ant farm yourself:

Calculate the volume of the nest section in centimeters:
Length x Width x Height = Volume in cm³
Example calculation: With 1000 grams of sand-loam, you fill approximately 600 cm³. Divide your total volume in cm³ by 600 to see how many kilograms of sand-loam you need.

Key benefits at a glance:

• Collapse-free tunnels: Loam ensures a rock-solid bond after moistening.
• Manually mixed: Optimal ratio specifically tailored for digging ant species.
• Natural appearance: Fine texture with a beautiful red-yellow color scheme.
• Multifunctional: Also perfect as a decorative or functional base in terrariums.

Product specifications:

• Content: 200 grams per package
• Composition: Manually mixed fine sand and loam (clay)
• Color: Red / Yellow mixture
• Application: Digging substrate for ant farms and terrariums

Let your ants safely build their own tunnel system or use it as a beautiful, decorative ground cover.

Tree Bark Substrate (100 grams) – Natural Forest Floor for Your Enclosure

Give your ant or insect enclosure an authentic, natural atmosphere with our **tree bark substrate**! This 100% natural product simulates a real forest floor, making the terrarium or outworld not only look beautiful but also feel much more familiar to its inhabitants.

Natural Shelter and Hiding Places

A bare substrate can cause stress for many insects. The pieces of tree bark naturally create variations in height, crevices, and sheltered corners. This allows your animals to explore, climb, and hide under the bark to their heart's content. This reduces stress and stimulates their natural foraging and crawling behavior.

Perfectly Measured Quantity

The substrate comes in a convenient bag of **approx. 100 grams**. This amount is precisely proportioned to provide the bottom of our standard terrariums and outworlds/arenas with a beautiful, covering, and atmospheric substrate layer.

Key Benefits at a Glance:

• 100% Natural: Real tree bark without chemical additives or harmful substances.
• Natural Appearance: Instantly creates the look and feel of a real forest floor.
• Extra Shelter: Offers ants and insects safe hiding places and climbing opportunities.
• Convenient Portion (100g): Sufficient for covering the bottom of standard terrariums and arenas.
• Versatile Use: Suitable for ant farm outworlds, insect terrariums, and other enclosures.

Product Specifications:

• Product: Tree bark substrate / decoration
• Weight: Approx. 100 grams
• Material: 100% natural tree bark
• Application: Substrate and decoration for terrariums, ant arenas, and insect enclosures

Bring a piece of nature into your animals' enclosure.

Outworld Barrier Oil – The reliable barrier against escaping ants

Opening the outworld for feeding or maintenance of your ant farm becomes much more relaxed when you know that the worker ants can't simply climb over the edge. Our **Outworld Barrier Oil** is the ideal, animal-friendly solution to keep an active colony neatly contained in their outworld.

How does it work?

Despite the name, this is not a traditional greasy oil, but a carefully formulated mixture based on a fine talc substance. As soon as you apply a thin strip of this mixture to the top edge of the enclosure, ants lose their grip when they try to climb the edge. They simply slide back into the outworld.

Easy to apply & long-lasting effect

You can easily apply the mixture with a cotton swab or cotton bud. Once applied, the barrier remains effective for a long time — under normal circumstances, you only need to refresh the layer after several months to even a full year!

User tips for optimal performance:
• Smooth surfaces: Exclusively for use on smooth glass or plastic (acrylic) walls.
• Avoid corners: Apply the barrier to straight, smooth sections. In the right-angle corners of an enclosure, ants can sometimes still find just enough grip; ensure that the corners are extra carefully covered or rounded.
• Maintenance: For very large, highly active colonies or areas with high humidity, it is advisable to wipe the barrier clean and reapply it more frequently.

Key benefits at a glance:

• Maximum prevention: Ants slip and cannot cross the top edge of the outworld.
• Extremely durable: Remains effective for up to a year without needing interim replacement.
• Animal-friendly & safe: Talc-based mixture that does not harm ants.
• Easy to apply: Quick to apply to smooth acrylic or glass with a cotton swab.

Product specifications:

• Type: Anti-escape preventative (talc-based mixture)
• Suitable for: Smooth surfaces (glass & acrylic/plastic)
• Recommended application: Top edge of ant farm outworlds and arenas

Prevent your ants from making a break for it and enjoy a carefree hobby. Order the Outworld Barrier Oil today!

Gelly Nutritional Gel (2 ml) – Moisture, Nutrition, and Safety in One

Are you looking for a food source that requires no attention for weeks? Our **Gelly** is a specially developed nutritional gel that provides ants with both moisture and essential sugars and energy-rich nutrients. Delivered in a compact 2 ml test tube, this gel is the perfect addition to the normal diet of sugar water, honeydew, and feeder insects.

The ideal holiday food for ants

Unlike liquid sugar water or honeydew, this firm gel does not dry out quickly and remains good for weeks in the outworld or arena. Are you going away for a weekend or on holiday? With a tube of Gelly in the enclosure, you can be sure that your worker ants always have access to the necessary energy and hydration.

100% Safe with no risk of drowning

Due to its solid, jelly-like structure, ants can safely walk on the gel and eat from it to their heart's content without sticking or drowning. This also makes it extremely suitable for very small ant species or newly started colonies. With a bit of luck, you'll even see the worker ants excavating small tunnels and passages in the gelly to take it back to the nest!

Key benefits at a glance:

• 2-in-1 Nutrition: Contains both essential energy/carbohydrates and moisture.
• Ideal for holidays: Stays good for weeks in the arena without drying out.
• 100% Safe: No risk of drowning or mess in the outworld.
• Interactive: Ants regularly dig small tunnels in it.
• Reusable tube: The compact plastic test tube is easy to clean after use.

Suitable for feeding:

• Almost all ant species (such as Messor, Lasius, Camponotus, Formica, Myrmica, Tetramorium etc.)

Special Seed Mix – The ultimate nutrition for your harvester ants

Seed-collecting ant species, such as the popular Harvester Ant (Messor barbarus and other Messor and Pheidole species), have a unique diet. Instead of primarily living on insects and sugars, these ants collect seeds to store in the nest. They chew the seeds finely, mix them with their saliva, and thus create nutritious 'ant bread'. This **specially formulated seed mix** offers the perfect variety and balance your colony needs to grow healthily.

Rich variety of over 50 types of seeds

Variety in the diet stimulates the ants' natural foraging behavior. Our mix consists of a careful selection of over 50 different types of fine grass seeds and bird seeds. Because it contains both very small and slightly larger seeds, both the smaller workers (minors) and the large jaws of the soldiers (majors) can immediately get to work filling the storerooms.

From our own breeding experience: Tested on millions of ants!

This mix is not just any birdseed or grass seed mix from the store. We have composed this combination ourselves and have been using exactly this mix for years for all our own breeding colonies — from tiny colonies with a few dozen workers to gigantic supercolonies of over 10,000 ants. So we know from our own experience with millions of ants: **this is the nutrition that works!**

Economical in use

For a new colony (up to approximately 30 workers), one package of this seed mix is more than sufficient for at least a full year of feeding.

Key benefits at a glance:

• 50+ Types of seeds: Rich variety of fine grass and bird seeds for an optimal diet.
• Proven quality: Exactly the mix that Mierenboerderij uses for all its own breeding colonies.
• Stimulates natural behavior: Perfect for creating seed stores and making ant bread.
• Long shelf life: Provides a new colony with enough food for at least 1 year.
• Suitable for all sizes of workers: Contains both very fine seeds and sturdier seeds.

Suitable for feeding:

• All Messor species (such as Messor barbarus, Messor structor, Messor capitatus)
• All Pheidole species (such as Pheidole pallidula)
• Other seed-collecting ant species

Product specifications:

• Composition: Own blend of >50 types of grass and bird seeds
• Type of food: Dry food / Seeds
• Suitable for: Harvester ants and seed collectors

Transparent T-Connector (10 mm) – Create smart branches in your ant setup

Do you want to give your ant colony more space and connect multiple habitats or outworlds to one nest? With this fully transparent T-connector, you can easily create a professional 3-way branch in your tubing network!

100% Transparent for optimal visibility

Unlike standard opaque connectors, this T-connector is made of clear plastic. This eliminates 'blind spots' in the tubing system, allowing you to perfectly observe the worker ants, food transport, and inter-colony communication at every junction.

Natural network expansion

In nature, ants don't dig straight lines, but instead create a complex network of branches and tunnels leading to different chambers and exits. With this T-connector, you can simulate this natural behavior. For example, give your ants the choice between a feeding arena and a waste arena, or connect a second nest module as soon as the colony grows!

Key benefits at a glance:

• Fully Transparent: Maximum visibility of traffic between all connected modules.
• Handy 3-way Branch: Easily connect 3 tube sections or multiple habitats.
• Secure Fit: Designed for tubes with an outer diameter of 10 mm (ultimate combination with our 8/10 mm transparent tube).
• Escape-proof: Connects seamlessly so ants cannot escape.

Product specifications:

Ant Docking Station

Why a docking station for every nascent colony?

This is where the ant hobby begins. The ultimate start for any colony smaller than 50 workers. The small colony in a test tube needs shelter, a quiet place. Many ant species can benefit from a nice warm temperature, and you want to be able to connect your test tube to an arena in a good and aesthetically pleasing way. Making a connection between the test tube and the arena is always the first step in the hobby. After this is done, the colony can collect food from the arena and dispose of their waste. There is only 1 product available worldwide that allows you to arrange all this in one go.

The Docking Station is a must for every nascent ant colony of up to about 50 workers!

Specifications and Use

What can you and your ants do with this product and how do you use it?

Custom-made
The test tube L (16mm diameter and 150mm long) fits precisely into the Docking Station.

Shelter for your ant colony
The lid closes precisely over the test tube for good shelter for your colony (for the moments you're not observing).

Ventilation in docking station
Ventilation openings are incorporated in the lid for healthy airflow around the test tube.

4. A heating cable to provide your ant colony with the ultimate temperature for rapid and healthy development, so they are quickly (or more quickly) ready for a new, additional nesting environment!

Plastic Pipette (3 ml / 15 cm) – Indispensable for precise humidification

Maintaining the correct moisture level is one of the most important tasks when caring for ants, small reptiles, and tropical insects. Too much water can lead to mold or flooding of the nest chambers, while too little moisture can be deadly. With this **3 ml plastic dosing pipette**, you have complete control over every drop of liquid you administer.

Precise Dosing Without Spilling

The pipette has a total length of 15 cm and features clear graduations on the side. This allows you to see exactly how many milliliters you draw up and inject. The squeeze bulb at the top operates very smoothly, making it easy to accurately drip a few drops of water into a humidification opening, or to precisely offer sugar water and fruit fly liquid in the outworld.

Safe, Flexible, and Reusable

Made from flexible and unbreakable transparent plastic (LDPE). Unlike glass pipettes, this plastic version cannot break, making it very safe for daily use around acrylic, plaster, or glass formicariums. After use, simply rinse the pipette with warm water to clean it for the next feeding.

Key Benefits at a Glance:

• Accurate Control: Equipped with clear millimeter graduations.
• Multifunctional: Perfect for humidifying plaster, sand, and acrylic nests, as well as administering liquid food.
• Unbreakable & Safe: Flexible plastic that does not splinter or break.

Red Protection Film (10x15 cm) – Effective darkening for your ant farm

Ants build their natural tunnels deep underground, where it is completely dark. Direct light on the nest area causes stress, which can lead to the queen laying fewer eggs or the workers becoming restless. With our self-adhesive red protection film, you can easily give your ants the shelter and peace they need.

How does red film work for ants?

The visual spectrum of ants does not contain receptors for red light. For the colony, a nest area covered with red film therefore feels like a dark underground chamber. Because the adhesive film darkens very effectively, you create a very stable and safe environment for the brood and the queen!

Easy to cut to size and apply

The film comes in a convenient standard size of 150 x 100 mm (10 x 15 cm) and is equipped with an adhesive layer. You can easily cut the film to size with scissors to cover exactly the desired part of your ant farm.

User tip: We advise covering a significant part of the nest with the red film for the ants' peace, but possibly leaving a small part uncovered. Because the film darkens strongly, observation becomes slightly more difficult — which is very good for the ants — but by leaving a small piece free, you always maintain a quick view of the activity! Is your ant farm larger? Then simply order multiple pieces.

Key benefits at a glance:

• Maximum stress reduction: Ants feel as if they are in the dark, which stimulates colony development.
• Self-adhesive & User-friendly: Easy and neat to stick on the outside of the nest part.
• 100% Customizable: Easily cut to the desired size or shape with scissors.
• Universally applicable: Suitable for acrylic, plaster, plastic, and glass ant farms.

Product specifications:

• Type: Self-adhesive red blackout film / Adhesive film
• Length: 150 mm (15 cm)
• Width: 100 mm (10 cm)
• Application: Darkening and protecting the nest area of ant farms

Give your ants the peace of an underground nest. Order the red protection adhesive film (10x15 cm) today!

Give your ant farm the ultimate presentation with the Major Base Stand

Do you want an even better view of the development of your ant colony? The Major Base Stand is the ideal stand to display your ant farm stylishly, safely, and clearly. This multifunctional stand is custom-designed for two of our most popular nests: the Major plaster nest (Master Series) and the Asteroid 10x15 acrylic nest (Universe Collection).

Optimal view of your ant colony

By placing your nest on this sturdy stand, the chambers are tilted at a perfect viewing angle. This gives you and your visitors a fantastic, direct overview of the queen, the brood, and the active workers. You'll never have to lean over the table or cabinet again to admire the nest life up close.

Space-saving and rock-solid

In addition to a beautiful view, the Major Base Stand also has a practical advantage: it saves valuable space on your desk, dresser, or display. Because the ant nest is tilted more upright, it takes up significantly less surface area. Thanks to its stable fit, the nest also stands rock-solid, which helps prevent vibrations and ensures a safe living environment for your ants.

The benefits at a glance:

• Perfect fit: Seamlessly suitable for the Major (plaster) and Asteroid 10x15 (acrylic) ant farms.
• Ideal viewing angle: Provides a razor-sharp view of all chambers, the queen, and the brood.
• Smart space-saving: Makes optimal use of space on your desk or cabinet.
• Stable and secure: Keeps the nest firmly in place and prevents accidental shifting.

Whether you are a beginner ant keeper or a seasoned enthusiast: with the Major Base Stand, you elevate the experience and the appearance of your ant farm to a higher level!

Ready-to-Use Sugar Water (2 ml) – Essential energy for your ant colony

A healthy ant colony needs two things to thrive: protein (from insects) for the growth of larvae and the queen, and sugars for the energy of the active workers. This **ready-to-use sugar water** is specially formulated for the needs of ants. It provides a readily available source of carbohydrates and, together with honeydew and feeder insects, forms the ideal basic diet for almost all ant species.

Safe feeding with the included cotton wool

Feeding loose liquids in the outworld quickly poses a risk of drowning for ants. That's why you receive a separate cotton wool with this tube of sugar water. Simply apply a few drops of sugar water to the cotton wool and place it on a feeding dish or in the arena. The ants can then safely suck the moisture from the cotton wool without getting stuck or drowning.

Easy to use and long-lasting

The sugar water is supplied in a compact test tube (13 x 75 mm) with a content of 2 ml. This is enough to provide a small to medium-sized colony with controlled energy for months.

Usage tip for feeding:

Offer a small amount of sugar water on a moistened piece of cotton wool every few days. If the cotton wool dries out over time, you can easily moisten it again with a few new drops from the test tube.

Key benefits at a glance:

• Ready to use: No hassle with dissolving sugar yourself or measuring ratios.
• Includes separate cotton wool: Makes safely and controlled dispensing of liquid very easy.
• 100% Safe: Prevents drowning in the outworld or arena.
• Long-lasting: 2 ml content is sufficient for several months of feeding.

Honeydew Surrogate (2 ml) – Rich in essential sugars, minerals & amino acids

In nature, ants love honeydew: the nutritious nectar secreted by aphids. To provide your ants in the formicarium with exactly the same valuable nutrients, we at Antfarm have developed our own **honeydew surrogate**. This mixture is richer in nutrients than standard sugar water and contains a balanced combination of sugars, minerals, and amino acids. Extensively tested by us and suitable for all ant species!

Safe dosing with the included cotton pad

Feeding loose liquids to ants quickly carries the risk of drowning. To prevent this, you will receive a **separate dosing cotton pad** with the honeydew tube. Simply apply a drop of honeydew to a small piece of the cotton pad and place it on a feeding dish in the arena. The ants can safely and controllably suck up the nectar without getting stuck.

Developed and used by Antfarm

We use this exact recipe daily for the care of our own ant colonies. It forms the perfect complement to a diet of sugar water and fresh feeder insects (and seeds for species like Messor and Pheidole).

Storage advice for optimal freshness: To maintain the high quality and nutritional value of the amino acids, the honeydew tube should be stored in the freezer. Offer a fresh drop weekly on the cotton pad and immediately return the sealed tube to the freezer. This way, it will last for several months!
