Triops Australiensis Egg Capsule – The silver super swimmer from Australia!
Do you want a prehistoric shrimp that really zips through the water with energy? The Triops Australiensis comes from the warm, temporary riverbeds of Australia. With its impressive length (5 to 9 cm), long tail, and beautiful silver-shimmering shield, this is one of the most spectacular Triops species to raise yourself.
Lightning-fast growth & Spectacular acrobatics
Because this species is naturally adapted to rapidly drying Australian waters, their growth rate is astonishing. Children and adults alike will be amazed: within a few days, you'll see them visibly grow larger. After about two weeks, they are already fully grown and start burying their first eggs in the sand! Moreover, they are true acrobats who love fast swimming and performing joyful pirouettes.
Environmental requirements: Lover of warmth
Since the Triops Australiensis comes from a warm climate, it needs a slightly higher water temperature than most other species:
- Temperature: Keep the water between 28 °C and 32 °C. A small heating element or a warm spot on the tank is highly recommended.
- Light: Direct light above the breeding tank is essential to awaken and hatch the eggs.
How does the breeding process work?
Fill a clean tank with approximately 0.5 liters of spring water (e.g., still Bar-le-Duc) and add the breeding batch. Ensure a constant temperature of approx. 28 - 32 °C and place a heat lamp above it. The first larvae will soon awaken! After the first 24 hours, you can carefully start feeding very small amounts of (finely ground) food.
Key advantages at a glance:
- Silver-colored Eye-catcher: Beautiful shimmering shield with an extra-long tail.
- Incredibly Fast-growing: Often produces the first eggs after just 2 weeks.
- Super Active & Playful: A real 'swimmer' who loves doing laps and pirouettes.
- Large Size: Can reach a length of 5 to 9 cm under ideal conditions.
- Includes Manual: Dutch user manual for successful breeding.
Product specifications:
- Species: Triops Australiensis (Australian Tadpole Shrimp)
