Indian Stick Insect Breeding Kit (PSG 1) – Grow your own stick insect family!

Do you want to experience the stick insect hobby from the very beginning? With this Indian Stick Insect Breeding Kit (Carausius morosus / PSG 1), you'll have everything you need to hatch your own eggs. It's a fantastic, educational experience for children, schools, and adults to watch the tiny nymphs crawl out of their eggs!

What's included in the breeding kit?

  • Breeding box: The ideal compact box to safely and controllably store the eggs.
  • Approximately 20 eggs (PSG 1): Fresh eggs of various ages, directly from our own breeding.

Easy care for the eggs

Incubating the eggs requires hardly any effort. Place a paper towel at the bottom of the breeding box, lay the eggs on top, and lightly moisten the paper with a plant sprayer about once a week. Because the eggs in the kit are of varied ages, the first nymphs often hatch within a few weeks to months, with the rest following within six months at the latest.

Easy to keep & Eats ivy

Once the young nymphs hatch, they are incredibly easy to care for. They grow well at normal room temperature (18 °C to 30 °C) and mainly eat ivy (Hedera), which can be picked fresh outdoors all year round. You can also offer them blackberry, raspberry, or oak leaves. Please note: never use sprayed plants from a garden center!

Unique virgin reproduction (Parthenogenesis)

The Indian stick insect reproduces via *parthenogenesis*. This means that the females lay unfertilized eggs from which new female stick insects will spontaneously emerge. A male is therefore not necessary! Once the nymphs are adult, they, in turn, will also start laying eggs.
