Indian walking sticks are nocturnal animals. During the day, they keep absolutely still and camouflage themselves as a real twig. In the evening, they come to life and you can quietly watch them crawl around and eat. They cannot bite, scratch, jump or fly and do not secrete harmful substances. Simple feeding: ivy all year round

A great advantage of the PSG 1 is their diet. They love ivy (Hedera), which can be picked fresh outdoors all year round. They also enjoy eating blackberry, raspberry, oak, rose, and privet leaves. Please note: never use plants from garden centers or florists, as these are sprayed with pesticides that are deadly to insects.

Reproduction without a male (Parthenogenesis)

A special feature of this species is that reproduction is virgin (*parthenogenetic*). In captivity, there are almost exclusively females. As soon as a female is mature, she lays small brown eggs that hatch without fertilization. After a few months, new, healthy female nymphs will emerge from these!

Housing and care requirements

The Indian walking stick feels perfectly at home at normal room temperature (18 °C to 30 °C). The enclosure should be at least 24 cm high and 16 cm wide for adult specimens (at least 3x the length of the animal in height). Lightly spray the enclosure approximately twice a week with a plant mister so that the sticks can drink, but prevent the substrate from becoming too wet.
