Product description
Ant colony Myrmica Rubra 2 gynes 20+
Species
The myrmica rubra is also called the common red fire-ant. A well-known ant from our own soil! Our ant colonies consist of a queen together with brood and a number of workers. This number depends on the number of eggs that have developed into an ant (egg-larva-pupa-ant). This colony already contains over 20 workers.
please note, different warranty conditions
Myrmica rubra is a nice species to keep, but clearly more difficult than, for example, Lasius niger of messor barbarus. We quarantee the safe arrival of the queen and ants, but we can't go further than that. A colony of Myrmica rubra can die out within a few days in the wrong, (particularly too dry) conditions. Therefore, the lifespan is clearly dependent on the way of housing and care. If something is wrong upon receipt, then it is still our responsibility and our risk. This must be reported to us within 24 hours (after receipt) with clear pictures. If you are unsure about the care and purchase of a myrmica colony, please contact us first for advice!
Suitable for
The ant colony is intended for the ant farms of acrylic, gypsum and sand. We also recommend the use of an arena. The ants use the arena to get their nourishment and bring their garbage. Some of our products and offers have integrated an arena. For the first period of time the test tube has enough space for the colony. So they develop from the test tube.
On several Ant Farms You can find this ant colony in a special offer price. If you are looking for ants to use in a gel ant farm, we recommend the ant family.
Packing and Shipping
In the image you see how we actually supply the ant colony. The colony is in a test tube with a water supply in order to keep the tube nest partially damp. After receipt the colony can be kept in the tube up to a few weeks without any care. We give a 2 weeks warranty for the life of the queen. Does the queen arrive dead or if she dies within a few weeks, we will provide a replacement colony for free.

Acrylic, gypsum or sand, including the use of an Arena
Comments:
- Myrmica rubra is an interesting ant species from Western Europe. They can develop quickly and also relocate very fast. Our experience is that it is very important to keep a part of the nest very moist. Drought is a real danger!
The red fire-ant can sting when it is in danger, it can sting a little, comparable to a sting nettle. But probably you won't be scared of that if you're an experienced ant keeper! ;-)
