Product description
Ant Docking Station
Why a docking station for every starting colony?
This is where the ant hobby begins. The ultimate start for every colony smaller than 50 workers. The small colony in a test tube needs shelter, a quiet place. Many ant species can use a nice warm temperature and you want to be able to connect your test tube to an arena in a good and beautiful way. Making a connection between the test tube and the arena is always the first step in the hobby. After this has been done, the colony can get food from the arena and remove their waste. There is only 1 product available worldwide that allows you to arrange all this in one go.
The Docking Station is a must for every starting ant colony up to about 50 workers!
Specifications and use
What can you and your ants do with this product and how do you use it?
Custom made
The test tube L (16mm diameter and 150mm long) fits exactly in the Docking Station.
Shelter for your ant colony
The lid fits exactly over the test tube for good shelter for your colony (for the moments when you are not looking).
Ventilation in docking station
Ventilation openings are incorporated in the lid, for a healthy air flow around the test tube.
Heating for fast and healthy development
Openings have been made at the bottom where a heating cable can be placed in several ways without the risk of condensation. Various increases in temperature can be achieved by placing a cable partially or completely. An explanation of how it works and which temperature increases you can make can be found in the enclosed instructions.
Connection to the tunnels
From the Docking Station, the ants will arrange the transport through the tunnels to arenas and new nests. The connector from test tube to the tunnels fits exactly on this Docking Station.
A feast for the eyes
The Docking Station looks slick and sleek. It makes all other products that are currently available for a test tube redundant. No more holders made of acrylic or wood. No more shelter from foil, pieces of cloth, cardboard or sleeves. No more fiddling, but professionally ready for the future of your colony in one go!
What do you get?
The product consists of two parts. The dock comes with a base part where the test tube fits in and a lid that fits exactly over it. You can order a few options here at great special prices!
1. A test tube with nesting facility (moisture reservoir) if you do not have a nesting tube yet, or want to replace it (see example in the photos)
2. A coupling piece to connect the test tube to the tunnel hoses.
3. Half a meter of tunnel hose to be able to connect to the arenas and nests.
4. A heating cable to provide your ant colony with the ultimate temperature for rapid and healthy development, so that they are also ready for a new, extra nesting environment sooner!
